Kensa Contracting: Securing Retrofit Grant for Southend-on-Sea City Council
Kensa was supporting Southend-on-Sea City Council to bid for grant to implement an innovative ground source heat pump solution for their residential tower blocks.
“Richard’s knowledge and experience with grant funding - in addition to his help coordinating different elements of the bid - was invaluable in writing our wave 3 bid and getting it submitted on time.”
The Challenge
The Council were preparing a bid for grant through Wave 3 of the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund with support from Kensa for an innovative heat pump solution. To assist Kensa’s technical and commercial experts during a busy bidding window, Richard McWilliams was asked to provide experienced support on bid strategy, management, content preparation and review based upon his previous leadership roles for the Technical Assistance Framework during Waves 1 & 2 that deployed over £1.5Bn of grant.
Our Approach
All those that had engaged with the bidding process will know the intensity of effort needed. Richard was able to provide guidance, advice and feedback on the bid preparation – with support to make sure that Kensa’s effort was targeted to where it was most needed towards the shared goal of a successful bid. After weekends, late nights and early mornings, the proposal was approved by the Council, submitted in good time and ultimately successful in securing nearly £3.5m of grant
Key Outcomes
